GAS COALS for SMALL COAL FIREPLACES Gas coals are really the same thing as gas logs - an open burning fire. They're the ideal choice for a vintage coal fireplace of course, but the real reason is because their small size allows them to be installed in fireplaces that are just too small for gas logs. We have a gas coal option that will fit a fireplace as small as 6" deep! LEARN MORE >
GAS INSERTS for Small Coal Fireplaces or Standard Wood Burning Fireplaces A gas insert is the ideal choice to convert your fireplace into a gorgeous source of efficient heat! Since they're installed with a dual liner system (one pipe brings outdoor combustion air down the chimney and the other pipe vents the fumes), they're ideal for putting an old fireplace back into use. They use much less gas than gas logs or gas coals; our smaller models heat up to 1200 sq. ft. while our models made for larger fireplaces can heat 2000 sq. ft. or more. While we're best known for our small models and historic styles, we do offer a great selection of choices for larger fireplaces too, as well as traditional and modern styles. GAS LOGS for STANDARD SIZE FIREPLACES Gas logs convert your existing wood burning fireplace to a beautiful open fire without the work and mess of burning wood. No logs to tote, no ashes to clean out - just a big beautiful fire at the touch of a button! Like any open burning fire it shouldn't be considered a real source of heat, but sometimes fire is really just about being convenient and gorgeous. LEARN MORE >
ELECTRIC INSERTS Electric inserts are a great option for transforming a fireplace into a source of ambiance. No gas lines to run, no venting needed, and simple for a homeowner to install. Most of our electric models can be operated with or without the heat, meaning you can have a "fire" in July without heating up the room. A model that plugs into the wall is capable of heating about 400 square feet all on its own, or just to raise the temperature in the room while you turn down your main thermostat. Our mission is to provide models for small coal fireplaces and/or models with a historic flair. If they're not available then we design our own, such as our best selling Windsor Electric Insert. FIREPLACE TILES Small ceramic tiles were original to many of the old fireplaces out there. The problem is, over time they often crack and come loose, especially the tiles on the hearth. We have a fabulous selection of both subway tiles and quarter tiles (one quarter of a 6x6 tile, or measuring 1-1/2" x 6"). We have some of the more colorful tiles, but also softened colors that give a hint to the original design but work well with colors you're more likely to choose for your home's style today. They are hand made and will absolutely transform the look of your vintage fireplace. SEE COMPLETE SELECTION >
SLATE SURROUNDS We find natural cleft slate to be an ideal answer to renovating or restoring a vintage fireplace. It's a natural material that was in use when historic homes were built so it's appropriate in many restoration projects. It's inexpensive compared to other materials, it's a timeless material that will never go out of fashion. Plus, slate looks great with cast iron. ORDER DETAILS
GLASS DOORS Any open burning fireplace - whether you burn wood or gas logs - can benefit from glass doors. If you burn wood, glass doors help save energy by allowing you to close off the fireplace on a low burn when you'd like to go to bed but know you'll wake up to a frigid house if you leave the damper open all night. If you burn vented gas logs it's the same challenge; the damper is clamped open when the logs are installed and you're losing heat up the chimney full time. By installing glass doors you can keep the fireplace closed off, opening the doors when you burn your gas logs. We offer custom designs to fit your decor and can have them built to any size!
