This old metal bucket with lid was tole painted with a blue morning glory motif some years back and now stands ready to serve as a kindling bucket or ash bucket on your hearth, or perhaps for other covered storage in your home. Chippy paint adds to its vintage appeal. 9-1/2" tall, 10" diameter, removable lid. It would also prove handy in the kitchen to collect compost scraps.
Tole painting dates back to 18th century America and interest was renewed in the craft in the 1930's as a way, once again, to bring artful qualities to everyday items, and I believe this bucket dates back to that time.
